Standards for
Mental and Emotional Release®

Revised and Adopted September 2008

1. CERTIFIED PRACTITIONER of Mental and Emotional Release® (MER)

A. Successfully complete a Mental and Emotional Release® Practitioner training taught by a Certified Trainer of MER at the Practitioner Level or a Certified Trainer of MER at the Master Practitioner Level.

B. Must be at least at the Practitioner of NLP level or higher, OR…
have credentials in one of the following qualifying fields

– Psychology Ph.D. or Psy.D.
– Medical Doctor M.D.
– Chiropractic Doctor D.C.
– Osteopathic Doctor D.O.
– Dentist D.D.S.
– Naturopathic Doctor N.D.
– Homeopathic Doctor M.D.
– Registered Nurse R.N.
– Masters in Social Work M.S.W. or M.S.S.W.

C. Duration of Time – Must have at least 120 hours of training.

D. Must have successfully demonstrated the guiding of another person to release negative emotions using MER.

E. Training must include the following:

1. Trademark and copyright notice
2. Major premise
3. Review of Prime Directive of the Unconscious Mind

4. Elicitation of personal and others time lines

a. Time Line #1
b. Time Line #2

5. Specific Mental and Emotional Release® Techniques

a. Negative Emotion #1
b. Negative Emotion #2
c. Limiting Decisions and Beliefs
d. Anxieties
e. Fast Phobia Model

6. Each technique needs to have the following:

a. Agreement with the unconscious mind for the release.
b. Appropriate steps to identify and return to the root cause/the first event.
c. Release of the negative emotion or limiting belief/decision at the root cause/first event.
d. Preservation of positive learnings.
e. Evaluation of and release of negative emotions or limiting beliefs/decisions on subsequent events on gestalt.
f. Test and Future Pace.
7. Putting things in the future time line for self and others.
8. Problem solving for MER (reframes, what to check for at Position C).
9. Scope of Practice for Practitioner of MER.

F. Other information that may be shared:

1. History of time lines.
2. Where and how to use MER – Business, Therapy, and Education.
3. NLP Model of Communication.

2. CERTIFIED MASTER PRACTITIONER of Mental and Emotional Release® (MER)

A. Successfully complete a Mental and Emotional Release® Master Practitioner Training taught by a Certified Trainer of MER at the Master Practitioner Level.

B. Must be at the Practitioner of MER Level.

C. Must be at the Master Practitioner of NLP level, OR…
have credentials in one of the qualifying fields

– Psychology Ph.D. or Psy.D.
– Medical Doctor M.D.
– Chiropractic Doctor D.C.
– Osteopathic Doctor D.O.
– Dentist D.D.S.
– Naturopathic Doctor N.D.
– Homeopathic Doctor M.D.

– Masters in Social Work M.S.W. or M.S.S.W.

D. Duration of Time – Must have at least 120 hours of training.

E. Have successfully demonstrated the ability to identify the greater problem for another person’s stated issue/problem using the Detailed Personal History.

F. Training must include the following:

1. Review of trademark and copyright notice.
2. Review of Prime Directives of the Unconscious Mind.
3. Review of Major Premise and Techniques.
4. Review and expand on elicitation of Time Line and discovering the root cause.
5. Detailed Personal History.
6. Review and expand on General Reframes.
7. Drop-Down Through Technique.
8. Logical Levels of Therapy.
9. Regression Procedure.
    a. MER and Regression.
    b. Non-directed questioning.
10. Review and expand on important issues in releasing symptoms.
11. Scope of Practice for Master Practitioner of MER Level.
12. Healing interventions.

3. CERTIFIED TRAINER of Mental and Emotional Release® AT THE PRACTITIONER LEVEL

A. Duration of Training: Minimum of 16 hours

B. Training must be taught by a Certified Master Trainer of NLP who is also a Certified Trainer of MER at the Master Practitioner Level, or a Certified Trainer of NLP with a Certification as a Trainer of MER at the Master Practitioner Level and is under supervision from a Certified Master Trainer of NLP who is also a Certified Trainer of MER at the Master Practitioner Level.

C. Must be at the Master Practitioner of MER Level.

D. Must be a Trainer of NLP.

E. Skills Requirement:

1. To have knowledge of the following and successful behavioral demonstrations for self and others:
    a. General Information
    b. Perception is Projection
    c. Cause and Effect
    d. Responsibility for Change
    e. SMART Goals
    f. Gestalts
    g. Periods of Personality Development (imprinting, modeling, socialization)
    h. In and Through Time
2. NLP principles
    a. Sensory Acuity and Calibration
    b. Rapport
    c. Submodalities – what are these
    d. Association vs. Dissociation
    e. Anchoring – what is it
    f. Reframes
    g. Parts Integration
3. All MER information from Practitioner level.

F. Training must include the following:

1. Any updates to the MER Practitioner material.
2. Key points of training the MER Practitioner material.
3. Key points of successful demonstrations for the MER Practitioner material.

G. Must return for re-training every three (3) years.

4. CERTIFIED TRAINER of Mental and Emotional Release® AT THE MASTER PRACTITIONER LEVEL

Mental and Emotional Release

A. Duration of Time – Must have a minimum of 8 hours of training.

B. Training must be taught by a Certified Master Trainer of NLP who is also a Certified Trainer of MER at the Master Practitioner Level, or a Certified Trainer of NLP with a Certification as a Trainer of MER at the Master Practitioner Level and is under supervision from a Certified Master Trainer of NLP who is also a Certified Trainer of MER at the Master Practitioner Level..

C. Must be at the Certified Trainer of MER at the Practitioner Level.
D. Must be a Trainer of NLP.
E. Experience:

1. Must have three years of experience of being a Certified Trainer of MER at the Practitioner Level.

F. Skill Requirements:

1. To have knowledge and successful behavioral demonstrations in all MER Practitioner and Master Practitioner material.
2. To have knowledge and successful behavioral demonstrations in NLP material that is necessary for use with MER.

G. Training must include the following:

1. Any updates to the MER Practitioner and Master Practitioner material.
2. Key points of training the MER Master Practitioner material.
3. Key points for successful demonstrations for the MER Master Practitioner material.

H. Must return for re-training every three (3) years.
